Genus Mongoloniscus Verhoeff, 1930

Type species.

Mongoloniscus koreanus Verhoeff, 1930, by subsequent designation.

Notes.

Previous studies have ascribed eighteen species to the genus Mongoloniscus; however, some do not conform to the criteria proposed by Kwon (1993). In the present study, we provide the typical habitus of the genus (Fig. 3) and adopt a more restrictive interpretation, asserting that a species can be classified as Mongoloniscus if exhibiting all the following characters:

Dorsum granulated, with numerous gland pores along the entire margin of the pereonites.

Noduli laterales more or less at the same distance from lateral margin, with a d / c value less than 0.75.

Cephalon with well-developed median lobe and lateral lobes, median one convex or arched on anterior margin.

Pereonite 1 posterior margin straight or rounded.

Pleopodal exopods 1–5 with monospiracular internal lungs.

Pleopod 1 exopod with bilobed apex, and posterior tip of endopod bent outwards.
