Hemicypris exigua Broodbakker 1983a

Type locality: pond in the Museum Garden, Mundo Novo, Curaçao (12°00’05” N, 68°56’35” W). Holotype (♀)— ZMA, Ost. 150.757.

In Venezuela: at the following localities according to Broodbakker (1984a): NUEVA ESPARTA State —WH 1936/09, probably permanent well, dug in 1934, Pozo de La Ranchería, northwest of Cubagua Island (GN 10º48’42” N, 64º11’35” W) ; WH 1936/12, stagnant lagoon, Poza Barranca, Manglillo, Macanao Peninsula, Margarita Island (GN 10º57’41” N, 64º18’55” W) . FALCÓN State —WH 1937/107, large permanent lagoon, Poza Supideo, east of Carirubana, Paraguana Peninsula (GN 11º41’15” N, 70º12’31” W) .

Remarks: geographical distribution includes the Caribbean Islands, such as Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe (Maria Galante), Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Venezuela (Broodbakker 1983a, 1984a). Broodbakker (1983a) lists the species as a companion fauna to Cypris granulata (≡ C. subglobosa) and Keysercypria affinis (≡ Physocypria affinis).
