Type locality: no details of the type locality. No known repository for the material.

In Venezuela: at the following locality according to Triebel (1961) and Broodbakker (1983a): FALCÓN State — WH 1937/107, extensive permanent lagoon, Poza Supideo, east of Carirubana, Paraguana Peninsula (GN 11º41’15” N, 70º12’31” W); WH 1937/109, excavated and stagnant well, Estanque Santa Fe, northeast of Moruy, Paraguana Peninsula (GN 11º49’16” N, 69º58’57” W).

Remarks: Its geographical distribution in the Americas includes Curaçao, Venezuela (Triebel 1961), United States (Louisiana, Michigan, Florida) (Ferguson 1964), Bonaire, Barbados, Guadeloupe (Maria Galante), Puerto Rico (Broodbakker 1983a). Meisch et al. (2019) indicate that this species has been erroneously assigned to Cypris subglobosa Sowerby 1840, but this species has only been recovered as fossil material and was reassigned to Paracypretta subglobosa . Broodbakker (1983c) records the species (≡ Cypris subglobosa) as an accompanying fauna of Hemicypris exigua .
