Anemone patens Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 538. 1753.

"Habitat in Toboliko Sibiriae, Lusatiae inferiore." RCN: 4000.

Lectotype (Jonsell & Jarvis in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 160. 1994): Herb. Burser IX: 93 (UPS) .

Current name: Anemone patens L. ( Ranunculaceae).

Note: Skalický (in Preslia 25: 141. 1985) rejected the neotypification of Aichele & Schwegler (in Feddes Repert. 60: 72. 1957) and provided a detailed discussion of the protologue and original elements. He concluded that the Amman element and Herb. Linn. 710.3 (LINN) should be excluded, and suggested that a different neotype, either from northern Poland (cf. the Breyn element) or from Lausitz (the Bauhin element), should be designated. However, as original elements are in existence, a neotype cannot be chosen, and Jonsell & Jarvis’ choice of the Burser material (which was not considered by Skalický) as lectotype is accepted here.
