Arum triphyllum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 965. 1753.

"Habitat in Virginia, Brasilia." RCN: 6986.

Lectotype (Fernald in Rhodora 42: 249. 1940): Herb. Linn. No. 1079.2 (LINN) .

Current name: Arisaema triphyllum (L.) Schott ( Araceae).

Note: Reveal & al. (in Huntia 7: 213. 1987) believed that Fernald’s type choice is identifiable as subsp. pusillum (Peck) Huttleston, and not subsp. triphyllum. Reveal & al. (in Taxon 39: 355. 1990) therefore proposed Clayton 66 as a conserved type in its place. However, this was not recommended by the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 42: 875. 1993), although resubmission in a clearer form was invited.
