Generitype of Aspalathus Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 174. 1929).

Current name: Aspalathus chenopoda L. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Dahlgren (in Opera Bot. 8(1): 36; 9(1): 33. 1963; in Leistner, Fl. Southern Africa 16(3:6): 165. 1988) indicated two different Hermann specimens in Herb. Sloane (vol. 75: 33, BM-SL) as lectotype. However, as neither is original material for the name, Polhill’s choice provides the first valid typification.
