Current name: Heteropogon contortus (L.) Roem. & Schult. ( Poaceae).

Note: Specific epithet spelled “contortum” in the protologue. Cope’s type choice (Jun 1982) narrowly pre-dates the same choice made by Clayton & Renvoize (in Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Gramineae 3: 827. Nov 1982).
