Arenaria balearica Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 3: 230. 1768.

"Habitat insul. Balearibus. Gerard. Zoega." RCN: 3289.

Neotype (Diana-Corrias in Boll. Soc. Sarda Sci. Nat. 20: 294. 1981): Herb. Linn. No. 585.12 (LINN) .

Current name: Arenaria balearica L. ( Caryophyllaceae).

Note: The material indicated as lectotype by Diana-Corrias carries " Arenaria lucida HU" written by Linnaeus, though the fact that it matches the protologue of A. balearica well, presumably led Smith to add “balearica” to the sheet. Given the doubts as to whether this is original material for the name, the collection is accepted as a neotype (Art. 9.8).
