Lectotype (Ling in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 353. 1998): Herb. Clifford: 404, Artemisia 7 (BM-000647029) .

Current name: Artemisia absinthium L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Dillon (in Fieldiana, Bot., n.s., 7: 3. 1981), and a number of more recent authors, indicated 988.40 (LINN) as type. However, this collection is not from Europe, and also appears to be a post-1753 addition to the collection. It is not accepted as original material for the name (which is fortunate as it is identifiable as A. sieversiana Willd.) and Ling therefore designated a Clifford collection as lectotype in its place.
