Generitype of Arctium Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 179. 1929).

Current name: Arctium lappa L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Duistermaat (in Gorteria, suppl., 3: 76, 80. 1996) noted that 964.1 (LINN) is identifiable as A. tomentosum Mill. Subsequently, Duistermaat (2003) provided a detailed assessment of the identities of all available elements, designating a Dodoëns plate as lectotype supported by an epitype (illustrated in Gorteria, suppl., 3: 77, f. 18.2. 1996).
