Anemone narcissiflora Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 542. 1753, nom. & orth. cons.

"Habitat in Alpibus Austriae, Helvetiae, Sibiriae." RCN: 4021.

Lectotype (Dutton & al. in Taxon 44: 421. 1995): Herb. Linn. No. 710.31 (LINN) .

Current name: Anemone narcissiflora L. ( Ranunculaceae).

Note: Although Britton (in Ann. New York Acad. Sci. 6: 234. 1891) indicated a type in LINN, he did not distinguish between the several sheets there associated with this name. They are evidently not part of a single gathering so Art. 9.15 does not apply. Skalický (in Novit. Bot. Univ. Carol. 2: 101-110. 1985) discussed the name and original material but did not designate a type, and Luferov (in Byull. Glavn. Bot. Sada 183: 84. 2002) wrongly indicated a Tournefort plate (which was not cited in the protologue) as lectotype. The epithet first appeared as “uarcissifolia” but has been conserved as “narcissiflora” .
