8. Epidendrum jose-alvarezii Hágsater, Gut.Peralta & Nauray, (2015: t. 1531). (Figure 8A).

Type:— PERU. Junín: Prov. Satipo, Distr. Pampa Hermosa; Anexo Calabaza, Tramo Calabaza-Toldopampa, 3231 m, 23 November 2013, Y . Gutiérrez OJSYGU 190 (holotype: USM! isotype: MOL!) .

Distribution:— Peru, in the department of Junín. The species is known only from central Peru, in the eastern cordillera of the Andes, in humid montane forests.

Notes:— Epidendrum jose-alvarezii is similar to E. ardens but is easily recognized by the carmine red lip with the disc yellow (vs. flowers concolor from scarlet red or orange to rarely yellow or red brown), the sepals spreading (vs. sepals partly spreading, nearly parallel to the column), petals linear-oblanceolate, descending, hidden behind the lip (vs. petals linear, partly spreading, nearly parallel to the column), and the lip sub-3-lobed (vs. lip entire).

Conservation Status:— DD. Data Deficient. Since the type collection in 2013, no new collections have been recorded .
