Differential diagnosis.

Adult unknown. Larvae solitary, not forming communal mines as in A. voraginella; different timing.

Host plants.

Vitaceae: Vitis arizonica .

Leafmine.

(Figs 84-87) A more or less triangular blotch with scattered black frass, concentrated toward the beginning; no linear part.

Life history.

Larvae collected in November.

Distribution.

USA: Arizona.

Barcode.

A barcode of 407 bp groups in our tree (Fig. 44) with A. “Vitis1_USA” .

Remarks.

It is yet not certain whether this species belongs really to Aspilanta, as the (incomplete) barcode seems to group more with Holocacista species.
