Biology: The pale orange-red larvae develop gregariously in galled flower buds of Chamaenerion angustifolium and Epilobium spp. ( Onagraceae). Our records are from Chamaenerion angustifolium . Infected flowers become strongly swollen and misshapen, and do not open. Bivoltine; pupation and hibernation in the soil.
Distribution: Widespread in Europe including Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
