Pyrellia diversipalpis Rondani, 1863: 30 . Replacement name for Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1855a, preocc.
Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1855a: 134; 1855b: 114. [Junior primary homonym of Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1851a .] Type locality: SOUTH AMERICA (" de l'Amérique méridionale") . Lectotype ♀, BMNH (des. Pont 2012: 86; seen).
Descriptive notes. Ovipositor. Tergite 6 as 2 golf-club-like rods, posteriorly with setulae; tergite 7 as 2 rods, posteriorly with 2 plates with very small spines; tergite 8 as 2 rods, posteriorly enlarged and with 2 plates with strong spines; sternite 6 very small, rod-like, posteriorly with 1 small plate with setae; sternite 7 as 1 rod, posteriorly with 3 plates with setae; sternite 8 as 2 small rods, posteriorly with 2 plates with setae; epiproct with 4 setae; hypoproct longer than broad with many setae; cercus cylindrical and long (Figs 52–53).
Material examined. SOUTH AMERICA (" de l'Amérique méridionale"), lectotype ♀ of Pyrellia rufipalpis (BMNH) . The lectotype is in very poor condition.
Distribution. NEOTROPICAL (" South America").
