REMARKS: Ochthebius maculatus Reiche, 1869 was reported in Egypt by Hansen (1998) and Jäch (2004). According to Delgado & Jäch (2007), the species is rather widely distributed in the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) and it occurs also in Italy (Sicily) and Malta. Ochthebius abeillei Guillebeau, 1896 reported in Hansen (1998) and Jäch (2004) as a synonym to Ochthebius maculatus Reiche, 1869 is now an independent species and it is known from Egypt (Delgado & Jäch 2007).
