Spelaeomys florensis Hooijer 1957, Zool. Meded. Leiden, 35: 306.
Type Locality: Indonesia, Nusa Tenggara, Palau Flores, Manggarai Province, Liang Toge, a cave near Warukia, 1 km S Lepa.
Vernacular Names: Flores Island Spelaeomys.
Distribution: Known only from Flores Isl.
Conservation: IUCN – Extinct.
Discussion: A large-bodied, probably arboreal frugivore and folivore represented only by subfossil fragments (3000-4000 years old). The species may still live on Flores, possibly other nearby islands, and should be sought in any remnants of tropical evergreen rainforest.
