Type Locality: Ethiopia, Sheko Forest, 07E04'N, 35E30'E, 1930 m.

Vernacular Names: Yalden's Desmomys.

Distribution: Recorded from humid afromontane forest in SW Ethiopia (Sheko Forest and Gore), 1800-1930 m (Lavrenchenko, 2003).

Discussion: Differs from allopatric D. harringtoni by smaller size, pelage coloration, and details of the karyotype, 2n = 52, FN = 62 (Lavrenchenko, 2003).
