Type Locality: India, Maharashtra State, Poona Dist, Sinhgarh (18°23'N, 73°42'E).

Vernacular Names: Large Metad.

Distribution: Endemic to India; known only from the Sinhgarh Plateau in the Maharashtra region.

Conservation: IUCN – Endangered.

Discussion: Morphological comparisons between this distinctive species and M. gleadowi, M. kathleenae, and M. meltada reported by Mishra and Dhanda (1975). Reviewed by Agrawal (2000).
