Type Locality: New Guinea, Prov. of Papua (= Irian Jaya), 15 km N Mt Wilhelmina, Lake Habbema, 3225 m.

Vernacular Names: New Guinea Mountain Water Rat.

Distribution: New Guinea, Prov. of Papua (= Irian Jaya), known only from the type locality and NE slope of Mt Wilhelmina between 3560 and 3600 m (Tate, 1951:227); limits unknown.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
