Pleurophragmium verruculosum D. P. Tiwari, Indian Phytopath.: 513. 1970.

Typus.

INDIA • Madhya Pradesh, Sagar; rhizosphere soil of Piper betle; Dec 1965; D. P. Tiwari (holotype IMI 134426, isotype ITCC New Delhi 1375) .

Notes.

Verrucose conidia are rare in Pleurophragmium and are known only from a few species, namely P. clavatum, P. sichuanense, and P. verruculosum . Ornamented conidia are also observed in P. pteridophytophilum as “ rough-walled ” (Zhang et al. 2025), and in P. parvisporum (this study), where the conidial wall appears somewhat longitudinally crumpled. Among these taxa, molecular data are currently available only for P. sichuanense and P. parvisporum . Morphologically, P. verruculosum is most similar to P. clavatum, but can be distinguished by its septate conidia and shorter conidiophores.
