Remarks. Carphontes paradoxus sp. nov. is very similar in general aspect and coloration to C. posticalis, but the grayish-white pattern on the pronotum consists of a narrow longitudinal sinuous fascia on each side of the middle, rather than the four comma-like spots near the anterior margin and two on the posterior margin, in C. posticalis . Also, the fascia that covers the apical third of the sutural area is narrow in C. paradoxus, and broader and extended farther forward in C. posticalis .
