Bombus mendax Gerstaecker, 1869

European species distributed by the Pyrenees, Cantabrian Range and the Alps in two different subspecies. Because of this restricted distribution, the species is considered to be Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of European Bees (Rasmont et al. 2015).
