Bombus vestalis obenbergeri (May, 1944)

B. vestalis obenbergeri is quite common in inland Spanish areas and has been recently found in the Pyrenees (two individuals), at 1730 and 2120 m of altitude (Fig. 7), on Acinos alpinum (L.) and Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop. In the past, 19 individuals (Table 2) were recorded there (Ornosa 1984, Castro 1989, 1996).

This Iberian subspecies was assessed as Least Concern in the Red Book of Andalusian Invertebrates (Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2008).
