Potamobates tridentatus Esaki, 1926

Previously recorded from Costa Rica (Guanacaste, Puntarenas, and San José provinces), Panama, and Colombia (Esaki 1926b; Hungerford 1937, 1939; Kuitert 1942; Wheelwright & Wilkinson 1985; Manzano et al. 1995; Polhemus & Polhemus 1995; Molano et al. 2008; Posso & González 2008). It is herein reported for the first time from Alajuela, Heredia, and Limón provinces. As are other species of Potamobates, P. tridentatus is found on the riffle areas of lotic habitats along the Atlantic and Pacific slopes of Costa Rica, up to 700 m a.s.l.
