Previously recorded from Honduras to Venezuela and Grenada, including the Costa Rican provinces of Alajuela, Cartago, Limón, San José, and Puntarenas (Uhler 1894; Drake & Harris 1942; Drake & Hottes 1951b; Hungerford 1954; Spangler et al. 1985; Polhemus & Spangler 1989; Molano et al. 2005, 2008, 2017b; Castro & Morales 2011; Padilla-Gil & Pacheco-Chaves 2012). During our samples, it was collected in lagoons and lakes from the Pacific and Atlantic slopes, up to 2,700 m a.s.l.
