Distribution. Japan (Kyushu, Tanegashima Is. and Yakushima Is.).

Remarks. Momoi (1966) used the length of postpetiole for the separation this species from P. uchidai, while this character states shows intraspecific variation. This species resembles P. uchidai and can be distinguished by the following combination of character states in female: posterior margin of T2–T7 with white band (Fig. 10I) (without white band in P. uchidai); T1 2.1–2.2 times as long as maximum width (1.9–2.0 times in P. uchidai); hind TS1 2.1 times as long as TS2 (2.3 times in P. uchidai). On the other hand, no difference between the males of P. takachihoensis and P. uchidai is recognizable and thus further comparison with molecular data of them are necessary.
