Picromerus conformis (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1841)

Asopus conformis Herrich-Schaeffer, 1841: 72; Picromerus nigridens Fieber, 1861: 349 (non Fabricius, 1803).

Distribution in Iran. Guilan (Hérard et al. 1979), Northern Iran (no locality cited) (Mohaghegh 2006), Iran (no locality cited) (Modarres Awal 1997b; Mohaghegh 2008; Aukema et al. 2013).

General distribution. Southern Europe except France, Spain and Portugal extending to Azerbaijan (according to Péricart 2010); the mention from Algeria (Rider 2006) seems erroneous to us and not repeated by Péricart (2010).

Comments. Predator of larvae of L. dispar (Hérard et al. 1979; Modarres Awal 1997b). Members of the genus Picromerus are generalist predators feeding especially on larval stages of leaf eating Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera (Larivière & Larochelle 1989) .
