Samariscus nielseni Quéro, Hensley & Maugé, 1989 —Nielsen's righteye flounder STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Hensley (2001a: 3876).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. South Africa, Madagascar and Papua New Guinea. Benthic on soft bottoms of deep lagoon and seaward slopes, 35– 150 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.30626-002). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. South Africa; Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean) east to Hawaiian and Society islands, north to Taiwan, south to New Caledonia. Benthic on soft bottoms of lagoon and seaward slopes, 3– 15 m. Marine.
