REMARKS. Lepadichthys caritus (non Briggs, 1969), recorded from Madang by Kailola (1987a: 124), is probably a misidentification and may have been based on Discotrema sp.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Kailola (1987a: 124); photographed by A. Berberian. ROM and USNM material.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Oman, Mauritius (western Indian Ocean); Indonesia east to Philippines and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found among the spines of Diadema sea urchins or among branching corals, 0– 20 m. Marine.

Discotrema crinophila Briggs, 1976 —Crinoid clingfish

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang based on a specimen observed at St. PR 102, and another photographed by A. Berberian. WAM material (WAM P.29624-083).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia. Found among the bases of the arms of crinoids or feather stars, in coral reefs, 4– 20 m. Marine.

Discotrema monogrammum Craig & Randall, 2008 —Oneline clingfish

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang based on specimens photographed by A. Berberian. Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean) and Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, south to Queensland (Australia). Found among the bases of the arms of crinoids, in coral reefs, 10– 20 m. Marine.
