STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Duncker & Mohr (1925: 7); confirmed by Parenti & Allen (1991: 319). Specimens observed and photographed at St. CTR 0 7, CTR 11, CTR 32. KFRS and USNM material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Andaman Islands east to Pohnpei (Micronesia), north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Usually in schools in coral reefs, sometimes seeking refuge among sea urchin spines, 1– 42 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang based on specimens collected by W.-J. Chen. NTUM material (NTUM 10022).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Usually in schools among seagrass, 0– 10 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang based on specimens photographed by A. Berberian. AMS, CAS and NMV material (AMS I.17063-001; CAS 65625, NMV A.24169).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and Persian Gulf east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. In schools, 2– 15 m. Marine.
