Celtis appendiculata E.Mey. ex Planchon (1848: 341) .
Type: — AFRICA. South Africa, Uitenhage, Galgebosch, in forest, without date, fl. and fr., J.F. Drège s.n. (lectotype, designated here, HAL barcode 0110263!; isolectotypes BM barcode 000911374! [upper branch], FR barcode 0030484!, HBG barcode 512851!, K barcode 000243082!, REG barcode 000927!) .
Nomenclatural notes: —When publishing the name C. appendiculata, Planchon (1848) cited the sample J.F. Drège s.n., but did not mention the herbarium of deposit. Six specimens identified as C. appendiculata have been located. We believe that these specimens are original material, because they have the handwriting of J.F. Drège. Considering Planchon (1848) did not specify the type and its respective deposit herbarium, we designate the specimen at Herb. HAL with barcode 0110263 as the lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because this is the only specimen to have flowers and fruit.
Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of Chaetachme aristata Planchon (1848: 341) (Sattarian et al. 2006).
