Distribution in mainland China: AH, BJ, FJ, GD, GX, GZ, HA, HB, HE, HN, JS, JX, NM, SC, SH, SD, SN, TJ, YN, ZJ (Chu & Zhang 1997; Hua 2002).

Other distribution. Cosmopolitan. CABI (2017) gives details of the worldwide distribution.

Biology. The species is an important borer that attacks felled bamboo culms and bamboo timber products. It also damages rice, cassava and sugarcane. Moreover, the species has also been detected in the wood of some Pinus spp. (Pinaceae), and can also feed on dry cassava (CABI 2017).
