Distribution in mainland China: Unspecified locality in mainland China (Liu & Geis 2019).

Other distribution. Europe, Caucasus, Mediterranean, Turkmenistan, Israel, Iran, Japan and introduced to Australia, New Zealand, USA and Argentina (Liu & Geis 2019).

Biology. The species has been collected from Pistacia (Anacardiaceae), Quercus (Fagaceae), Juglans (Juglandaceae), Ficus (Moraceae), Populus (Salicaceae) and Vitis (Vitaceae) (Liu et al. 2016). The larvae feed preferentially in dry sapwood, and several generations may succeed each other in the same piece of wood (Liu & Geis 2019).
