Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Epigonus constanciae by Aguillar et al. (2018: 81). Recent unpublished records from Beirut (26 June 2009) and Batroun (4 April 2012). Material in collection: AUBM (OS3864; OS3852) .

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, eastern Atlantic: Madeira south to Gulf of Guinea and Angola and Namibia.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (LC: 11 July 2012); Med. (DD: 16 November 2007). Capture and threats: FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Rare. Low priority for conservation action.
