2. Dolichoderus decollatus HNS. B.M.

Female. Length 6 lines.-Head, antennae, thorax, legs, and scale of the petiole, ferruginous; abdomen ovate, black, covered with a fine silky pile, the fourth and following segments ferruginous. Head elongate-ovate, coarsely rugose; the mandibles smooth and shining, with a few scattered punctures, the head not prolonged into a neck. Thorax rugose, the metathorax with two stout curved spines; the wings flavo-hyaline, the nervures pale rufo-testaceous.

Hab. Demerara. (Coll. F. Smith.)

This species is distinguished from attelaboides HNS by not having the head prolonged into a neck; it is also a broader and more robust insect; the metathorax is rugose above, not transversely striated as in the other species.

The worker of this species is in the British Museum; it is also from Demerara; it differs from the worker of attelaboides HNS in not having the head prolonged into a neck; it is, however, proportionately larger than in that species.
