3. Myrmecia simillima HNS. B.M.

Worker. Length 7 lines.-This species is very like M. forficata HNS, of which possibly it may be a variety; but it is more coarsely sculptured; the striation is longitudinally divergent on the prothorax, and irregularly roughened transversely on the meso- and metathorax; in M. forficata HNS the prothorax has a regular transverse curved striation, that on the mesothorax and scutellum being regularly striated longitudinally; this difference in striation appears to characterize a distinct species.
