Genus Xyphinus Simon, 1890
Remarks. This genus currently contains 20 species, which have mainly been recorded in tropical Asia and Australia (World Spider Catalog 2023). This genus was established based on the type species X. hystrix Simon, 1893 from Singapore. Although spiders of the genus have well-developed scutum, which are similar to that those in Gamasomorpha and Xestaspis, the genital morphology differs from the latter two genera. The female epigastric region has a clear external protuberance and the distal part of the male palp is blunt, branching into many thin membranous parts, forming a complex (Kranz-Baltensperger 2014).
