Tegmen is wider than high, with darkened corners, fine teeth and a strong basal structure. Aedeagus is rather short. Body length: 3 mm.
Comments. The species is characterized by short and strong gonocoxites and a nearly round gonostylus, possessing a strong apical tooth and 7 spines, 4 of them in and below the middle of the inner side. Camptochaeta abnormalis sp. n. resembles Camptochaeta xystica Hippa & Vilkamaa, 1994 in the arrangement of the gonostylar spines but it differs in having four medial spines instead of three, a broader gonostylus with shorter and denser setosity as well as in having its tegmen apically nearly truncate, whereas Cam. xystica has its tegmen highly conical.
Distribution: Canada (Alberta).
