Epilachna hamulifera Pang et Ś lipi ń ski sp. nov. (Figs. 25 a–l)

Etymology. Derived from the Latin hamatus, meaning ‘with hooks’, the name is a reference to a pair of strong hooks at the apex of the complex penis guide.

Diagnosis. Distinguished from other Epilachna species by male genitalia, especially by a complex form of the penis guide, bearing apical hooks.

Description. Length 9.0 mm. TL/EW=1.36; PL/PW=0.33; EL/EW=1.17; EL/PL=5.92. Body oval. Dorsum reddish brown or brown; pronotum with three separate spots, the lateral ones sometimes strongly reduced to absent. Elytra with 5 pairs of black spots, arranged as 2-2-1 on each elytron; none of the spots reach anterior edge of elytron, lateral margin or elytral suture; median spots sometimes connected (Figs. 25 a-f). Abdominal postcoxal line incomplete, extending posteriorly to 0.9 of ventrite length (Fig. 25 l).

Male genitalia (Figs. 25 g–k). Penis without distinct capsule, almost straight and strongly bent apically; penis guide complex, with a pair of hooked processes apically; parameres short, paddle-like, about as long as penis guide. Female genitalia: unknown.

Types. Holotype (male), Hunan: Wulingshan, Tianzishan Nat. res., 1997.vi.16–18, Bolm (NHMB) (No. CHC- 0090). Paratype male, same data as the holotype (1, SYSM) .
