Xeranthemum vestitum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 858. 1753.
"Habitat in Aethiopia." RCN: 6195.
Lectotype (designated here by Nordenstam): [icon] " Xeranthemum frutescens, lanuginosum, foliis longis, mollibus, flore argenteo, amplissimo " in Burman, Rar. Afric. Pl.: 177, t. 66, f. 1. 1739.
Current name: Syncarpha vestita (L.) B. Nord. ( Asteraceae).
Note: Hilliard & Burtt (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 82: 251, 254. 1981) designated 990.3 (LINN) as lectotype. However, it lacks the relevant Species Plantarum number (i.e. “3”), is a post-1753 addition to the collection, and is not original material for the name.
