Type-locality. E of Porto Urucu (Petrobrás station RUC–2), Rio Urucu, Amazonas state, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Anolis tandai is endemic to southwestern Amazonia, delimited by the Tapajós river basin (both sides) and the Ucayali River, in southern Amazon River, and by the lower Negro River and Jarupá River, in northen Amazon River, occurring in Brazil and Peru (Fig. 6). In Brazil it is known from the states of Pará, Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. Anolis tandai is predominantly terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary and secondary forests, where it is usually found on leaf litter, and occasionally on vegetation (on fallen trunks, and on trunks and branches of trees—Ávila-Pires 1995; Vitt et al. 2001).
