Anolis chrysolepis Duméril & Bibron, 1837

Distribution and habitat. Anolis chrysolepis is endemic to northeastern Amazonia (Guiana region), occurring in Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, and Venezuela (Fig. 2). In Brazil, it is known from the states of Amapá, Pará, Roraima, and Amazonas. Anolis chrysolepis is predominantly terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme and swampy forests, where it is found on the leaf litter, and occasionally on leafs and stems (rarely more than one meter above ground—Hoogmoed 1973; Gasc 1981; Hoogmoed & Ávila-Pires 1991; Ávila- Pires 1995; Ribeiro-Júnior et al. 2006; 2008).
