Nomenclatural notes: — Gürke(1892) cited the collection of Blanchet2843 as type material.The referred author worked on B and K (Stafleu & Cowan 1976). Eight records corresponding to Blanchet collection were found (G00353386, K000535339, K000535340, BM000583544, M0211355, NY00007237, P02285723 and BM000583547), that are syntypes (Turland et al. 2018; Art. 10). The specimen from herbarium G (G00353386) was selected as lectotype because it presents the diagnostic characters of P. glazioviana (herbarium where it is materials of Blanchet were deposited).

Taxonomic notes: —This species is characterized by tomentose branches (with stellate trichomes), ovate leaves (2.1‒7.6 × 1.4‒6.7 cm), 12‒16, red, lanceolate bracteolate epicalyx, tubular corolla, and red petals.

Distribution, habitat, and IUCN threat status: —Endemic to a portion of the domain of Caatinga (in restricted sense) in the Northeast of Brazil. It is registered in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Pernambuco, and Piauí (Flora e Funga do Brasil, 2020). In Pernambuco, it is recorded in six municipalities. Occurs in Caatinga Zone in subzones in the Agreste, Sertão Central and Sertão dos Chapadões Areníticos. Does not occur in the conservation unit. This species presents an EOO of 440,727.829 km 2 and an AOO of 348.000 km ². Considering the large EOO it is here considered Least Concern (LC).
