Remarks

This family is currently monotypic, and morphologically distinguished only by the characters listed below in the genus diagnosis and species description. Morphologically, it resembles members of the Pelodrilidae, particularly Hologynus, and more detailed anatomical study is needed for comparison. At this point, the best distinguishing character appears to be the large midventral glands.
