Hassallia byssoidea Hassall ex Bornet et Flahault (1886: 116) (Fig. 15A–C).

Filaments entangled to solitary, epiphytic on other cyanobacteria, 8.16–10.78 µm wide. Sheath firm, 0.63–1.23 µm wide, non-lamellated, hyaline to brown. Trichomes attenuated, branches tolypothricoid, not constricted. Apical cell rounded. Cells short, 6.64–9.7 µm wide, 1.85–4.45 µm long, ratio l/w = 0.40. Cell content granulated, blue-green. Basal heterocyte elliptical, 7.23–9.64 µm wide, 4.91–7.42 µm long. Necridia present.

Habitat: —Bricks; associated with Gloeocapsopsis sp .. Concrete; associated with Gloeocapsopsis pleurocapsoides and Chlorogloea sp.1 . Tree bark inside the forest; associated with Gloeocapsa sp.1, Chlorogloea sp.1, Gloeocapsa compacta and Gloeocapsa stegophila .
