Brasilonema terrestre C.L. Sant’Anna et J. Komárek in Sant’Anna et al. (2011:59) (Fig. 12I–L).
Filaments forming fascicles conical, erect, short, 7.94–16.6 μm wide. Sheath firm, 0.91–2.68 μm wide, not lamellated, striate, yellowish-brown. Trichome cylindrical, slightly attenuated, false geminate branches rare, slightly constricted or not. Apical cell rounded. Cells cylindrical to short, 6.42–13.24 μm wide, 4.09–10.86 μm long, ratio l/w = 0.73. Cell content homogenous pale purple or yellowish-brown. Heterocyte cylindrical to ellipsoid, in intercalary position, 7.2–11.85 μm wide, 4.54–10.49 μm long. Hormogonia 6–13 cells, constricted, with intercalary heterocyte or not.
