Basonym: Hassallia rechingeri Wille (1913: 145) .
Filaments entangled, 8.52–15.13 μm wide. Sheath firm, 0.89–2.96 μm wide, 2–3 lamellae, hyaline to yellowish-brown. Trichomes cylindrical, heteropolar, with tolypothricoid branches, slightly constricted. Apical cell rounded. Cells sub-quadratic to short, 7.79–12.82 μm wide, 3.94–8.51 μm long, ratio l/w = 0.55. Cell content granulated, blue-green. Heterocyte ellipsoid or semi-spherical, in basal or apical position, 6.21–12.8 μm wide, 2.33–10.29 μm long. Hormogonia 4–8 cells, constricted, with basal heterocyte or not.
Habitat: —Tree bark inside the forest; associated with Aphanothece sp.
