21 Catasticta tricolor Butler, 1897 (TL: Ecuador)
(fig. 11: j-l; fig. 32)
Catasticta tricolor tomasi Wojtusiak & Rey 1999 (= tricolor viridia Wojtusiak & Rey 1999 nomen nudum) was described from Páramo El Tamá, Táchira. The type specimens were collected at the same time and place as specimens of Catasticta uricoecheae inopa and remain the only known ones from the Venezuelan side of the type locality despite subsequent field work. A male belonging to the same subspecies was collected on the Colombian side of El Tamá, and it is presently deposited in JLBC (Bollino & Rodríguez, 2004). Another male of this species was collected by Viloria at El Peñasco, Cerro Tetari, Sierra de Perijá (Zulia), and deposited in UZMC (plate 9: fig. l). Its wing patterns seems to be intermediate between it and ssp. rodriguezi (Eitschberger & Racheli) (TL: Colombia, Antioquia, Páramo de Belmira). We provisionally consider it as belonging to the Venezuelan subspecies, pending additional material from this poorly sampled area.
