Remarks. Sworder (1923) suspected the presence of H. caerulescens in Singapore because it occurs in waters off Peninsular Malaysia. Subsequent publications likely reference Sworder (1923). Specimen FMNH 213180 was brought to the Kangkar Fish Market in 1980, but no exact locality was specified (refer to “A note on sea snakes in Singapore ” above). Thus, the possibility exists that it was collected outside of Singapore’s waters.
